I grew up in Colorado Springs and began dancing at a young age. I studied jazz, ballet, pointe, tap, lyrical, and flamenco first with Barbara Ellis Dance Studio and then under Nancy Derby at Derby Dance & Music Arts. Tap was always my favorite style. I went on to earn my B.A. from Colorado State University in French and International Studies and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. I then taught kindergarten at a French immersion school in Kansas City, and high school French here in Colorado. I took dance classes off and on as an adult, but knew I found a home when I found LCDC! I came back as a tap student, and now have the privilege of combining two loves: dance and teaching! I have two children (Ben and Holly) who both dance at the studio, and I keep trying to convince my husband, Rob, to join in too. When I'm not tapping, I stay home with my children and volunteer as president and treasurer of my local MOMS Club.
A few fun facts....
My favorite food is...
Anything and everything pizza
The TV show/movie I'm obsessed with right now is....
I love to exercise my brain with Jeopardy! and giving it a rest with any Real Housewives franchise
My favorite thing about teaching dance has to be....
I love that anyone can dance - it doesn't matter your age, gender, size, or ability level! If you're willing to try, move your body, and have fun, you will succeed. I especially enjoy teaching adults who have little to no experience - I get to watch them learn and grow. There's nothing better than seeing them smile when they've challenged themselves and nail a new move!
